the anti-barber barber
Barbershop or salon? Where are men supposed to go if they have long hair? Curly hair? Or hair that is otherwise difficult to cut? Barber shops try to fit you into a one-size-fits-all mold. Salon stylists aren’t experienced in men’s haircutting (it’s a dirty industry secret). With a background in both salons and barbershops, I have learned how to work with hair that doesn’t fit a standard mold. Get a thoughtful, customized haircut by someone who is fluent in specialty haircutting and knows which techniques will achieve the look you want.
about diane
Specializing in men’s hair was never my intention. I started working in an upscale men’s salon just to save up money to move to New York. Even through my years working in female-centric salons, I never stopped barbering. Over the years, I learned to incorporate salon techniques into the barbershop while also deepening my knowledge of the nuances of men’s grooming. My experiences helped me achieve a wider range of upscale haircuts that many traditional barbers struggle with: long hair, curly hair, messy styles, thick textures, edgier shapes, and more.
In my years of hairstyling, I have done the hair of national TV personalities, Broadway stars, headlining musicians on sold-out world tours, working actors, professional athletes, Fortune 50 CEOs, but mostly regular guys who want nice hair.
